Abbey Falls is located 7 km from Madikeri, called as Jessi waterfalls by the British in the memory of the daughter of Madikeri’s first captain, it got its present name from the word “Abbe” or “Abbi”, which in Coorgie means waterfalls. The River Kaveri makes a descent here from a height of about 21 meter from sea level, providing a splendid sight.
There is a hanging bridge opposite to the falls that provides a better view to the tourists. Visitors can view the Kali Mata Temple as well as coffee and black pepper trees from the bridge.
