Agastya Lake is situated at near Bhuthanatha Temple, Badami, India. The lake is named after one of the Saptarishis, Agasthya. Legend says that the name Badami has origin in the Vatapi legend of Ramayana relating to Sage Agastya.
Agastya Lake is surrounded by hills and reddish sandstone temples. The waters of this lake are said to possess healing powers too. The sandstone rocks around this lake have gaps in them that act as pathways to climb up the nearby hill.
All the caves of Badami face towards Agastya Lake. The caves showcase impressive architecture and compelling sculptures. The hills surrounding the Agastya Lake offer a panoramic view of the city. The sandstones around the lake have a small opening in them offering a gateway for visitors to reach the nearby hilltop.
