Aizawl, Mizoram

Aizawl the capital of Mizoram, is located north of the Tropic of Cancer in the northern part of Mizoram and is situated on a ridge 1132 metres (3715 ft) above sea level. It is a beautiful and bustling 112 years old city set on rigdges of steep hills. Flanked on the north by the craggy peaks of Durtlang, the hill city overlooks the valley of the river Tlawng and  ranges of blue hill beyond. 

The 112-year-old town is also the centre of all important government offices, the state assembly house and the civil secretariat. It also enhouses different communities of Mizo wherein they maintain Peaceful Coexistenceas the main theme. The cloudless blue skies, dewy mornings and sunlight streaming through the woods are ideal for a relaxing holiday. Along with the Tlawng River, the Turial River Valley gives an opportunity to visit the high hills of Durtlang and other adjacent areas.

Best time to visit Aizawl

November to February is the best time to visit Aizawl. The average temperature ranges between 20 degrees and 29 degrees Celsius during the summers while it comes down to 7 degrees Celsius during the winters. Aizawl gets an annual rainfall of 254 cm every year. Take light woolens and cottons for summers and heavy woolens for winters.

How to Reach Aizawl

By Air: Aizwal is thoroughly connected by flights from major cities like Kolkata, Imphal and Guwahati.
By Rail: the closest railway stataion for Aizwal is Silchar in Assam. There are many trains from Guwahati also which take 19 hours to reach Aizwal.
By Road: Aizwal is accessible from Shillong and Guwahati by road. Aizwal is connected by buses and taxies with Silchar through NH 54.
