Asan Barrage is located near the meeting point of two rivers, namely Asan and Yamuna in Dehradun Districts of Uttarakhand State of India. It’s a paradise for the Bird Watchers and recently declared as bird sanctuary. The barrage is full of lush green trees and a calm 287.5 m long water body which attracts a humungous population of local as well as migratory birds.
Tourists can see rarest species of migratory birds like Adwall, Wigeon, Tufted, Pintail, Shoveller, mallards, red crested pochards, ruddy shelducks, coots, cormorants, egrets, wagtails, pond herons, pallas fishing eagles, marsh harriers, greater spotted eagles, osprey, and steppe eagles in the site. The birds seen here are listed as endangered species by IUCN Red Data Book (International Union for the Conservation of Nature).
