Gopeshwar, Uttrakhand

Gopeshwar is situated in Chamoli district of Uttrakhand at an altitude of around 1,300 m above sea level. It is the gateway to the sacred shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath. It is the administrative headquarter of the Chamoli district.

Gopeshwar is famous for its ancient temple of Lord Shiva called Gopinath Temple. The temple has 24 doors that provide access to the temple. The trident which is made from eight different metals and dates back to the 12th century is the salient feature of the temple. Thousands of pilgrims come here throughout the year to visit the temple.

Gopeshwar is bounded by four famous temples which include Tunganath, Anasuya Devi, Rudranath and Badrinath.

Gopeshwar is well linked by road that further connects with other major cities and towns of Garhwal Kumaon hills.
