Tata Motors likely to launch 800 cc Nano in 2013; may be priced at around Rs 2.5 lakh
Tata Motors is going everything it can to rejig the Tata Nano. In 2013, word has it that the 800cc of the entry level hatchback will reach the market, and will be sold for a price tag Rs 2.5 lakhs. There will 2 editions of the car, one in petrol and the other in diesel.
Company officials say, despite its poor show, there is no plan to phase out the existing 624-cc version, which will continue to bear the People’s Car tag, while the new model will target the more aspiring ones. Some auto experts, however, expressed doubts about the impact of the makeover in a market dominated by global giants like Hyundai and Suzuki.
The new Nano will be coming towards the end of 2013, and where the petrol edition will be coming in first with a price tag of Rs 2.5 lakhs, powered with the 800cc engine. The Diesel edition will be coming in soon after, but the exact specifics of the engine aren’t known as yet. Some say, it will be a 700cc engine, with the capacity to generate as much as 40 kmpl of milage. The price tag however, will be higher at Rs 3.5 lakhs.
There have been spy shots of the car been circulated around, ever since test drives have been arranged, but it has been difficult to determine what the final look and packaging will be.
